The IP Warrior was developed to
accomodate applications where the performance of the complementing
product IP Dragon isn't sufficient.
With its full duplex 100Mbit network
interface and its high speed 8/16 bit bus interface this module fits
very well together with high performance processors such as ARM, SH3,
H8-300, TLCS-900 and other high performance 8/16/32 bit MCU's. The
module is pin compatible with the IP Dragon which means that customers
can upgrade without changing their hardware.
Technical Data:
The IP Warrior is equipped with the
modern and high performing DM9000E chip from Davicom. This ethernet
controller was from the beginning designed for embedded applications.
This means that it interfaces with most microcontrollers and computer
systems without glue logic.
The board is fitted with a 93C46 EEPROM that contains the ethernet adress
as well as register setup data. The EEPROM is blank when the module is
shipped which causes data not to be loaded. This EEPROM is used to
personalize the module and give it an ethernet adress. Please read the
data sheet to find out how to program the EEPROM. The
module has two jumpers on board that needs to be configured before
installing the module into the target system.
-
JP1 - 8/16 bit data access
When installed the IP Warrior is in 8-bit mode and network data is
transfered 8-bits at a time. If this jumper is removed the module
enters 16-bit mode and network data is transfered 16-bits at a
time. Writing control data and reading status information is
always done with 8-bit data.
-
JP3 - 5Volt/3.3Volt
This jumper needs to be installed if you are going to use the
3.3Volt regulator on board. The IP Warrior can source approx. 50mA
to an outside load.
If you intend to run the board from a 3.3Volt source this jumper
needs to be disconnected.
